PLATTFORM – Norwegian Institute for the Prevention of Radicalisation and Violent Extremism is a unique interdisciplinary environment, consisting of an intermunicipal advising post, representing 30 municipalities in Agder, an analyst/researcher and Agder Police District. There are several individuals and institutions connected to Plattform, with a common focus on preventive work. The research strengthens the preventive work through process research, knowledge of phenomenons, analysis and consultation.
Based in the, in Norwegian context, unique collaboration between intermunicipal coordinator, police and researcher, Plattform wishes to convey innovative knowledge through conferences, lectures, course, education, reports, learning resources and guidance material to different actors in the municipalities of Agder.
In addition to being a resource for the municipalities in Agder, Plattform shall develop into a relevant European research institute and centre of resource linked to the phenomenon of preventing radicalisation and violent extremism. The institute’s objective of preventing all forms of anti-democratic forces and violent extremism is rooted in the Norwegian Government’s action plan against radicalisation and violent extremism.
The institute’s location at Arkivet has a symbolic value as well as representing a commitment to learning and so prevent misanthropy and anti-democratic powers to rise in new forms in our time.
